PostSubject: How to add Gradient Glow without filters   3/5/2012, 7:45 am

Alright today I am gonna explain how to add a gradient glow WITHOUT any plugins. This is how I do it when I want to add noise to that layer rather then just leave it white.
Hopefully I explain it well enough for you to understand.
This is how I do it in PSP there is a tutorial on how to do it using GIMP by Annaica HERE

Here we go!

Once you've finished with your tag and its time to add the name type it out like you normally do and convert it to a raster layer.

Now up on the top menu bar you should see selections click then then go down to modify and then expand put in 2 you can always do more its totally up to you. Then go back to selections and go to invert, now we're going to add a new layer. Flood fill this layer with the color you'd like and then go back to selections and select none.

In my example I added some noise to this layer to do this go to adjust then add/remove noise and add noise, there you can add the noise you want.

Add your drop shadow if you want.
Do not add your drop shadow to this layer if you're doing the rest below.

My second example I just added another layer and flood filled it with the same color. If you want do to this DO NOT DESELECT in the above step but go back to selections down to modify and expand by 2 same as we did earlier then flood fill this layer the color you want. Then move it below the other layer NOT the original text layer.

Add your drop shadow to this layer.

And we're done!

I hope I explained this alright if you do have any questions please pm me or leave a note here I will help and explain best I can.
