PostSubject: How to Make your Copyright small and readable!   6/10/2012, 4:14 am

I know we all want to make sure our copyright info is seen, but there is a way to do it so that it does not interfere with the artistic value of your tag. That is what we will be working on today. I work in Photoshop CS5, but the steps are the same for this tut no matter what program you use.

When I use a copyright often, I make a brush for it, so we will go through those steps, but if you are not making a separate brush just type the info on your tag in the fonts/sizes shown below.

Open a new canvas 200 x 100 pixels.

Next choose your text tool and font, I use A&S Sign Gothic set at 10 pts. Other good fonts to use are Pixelette, Arial, or any other small pixel font. You can get any of these for free.

Now type out your copyright info....I do mine as follows:
© Artist name Artist url
My tag line License #

To get the copyright symbol you hold down the Alt key and press the numbers 0169.

Now you've typed your copyright and it's legible, it's small and it's legal!!!

If you want to make a brush from it, follow these steps:

In PS:
Go to Edit>Define Brush Preset>Name your brush and it will be saved.

Go to your brush tool, click on it, the click on the menu where you choose your brush.
Click on the little button in the lower right hand corner. (see screenshot below) and name your brush and save.

I am not versed in GIMP, but I did find this very nice tutorial on making custom brushes.

I hope that helps you make your tags and have them look fab!!!
