What is copyright?

In the United States, copyright law protects the authors of "original works of authorship, including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works." This protection covers both published and unpublished works, regardless of the nationality or domicile of the author. It is unlawful for anyone to violate any of the rights provided by copyright law to the owner of a copyright.

Every artist - FTU and PTU have the right to this protection and they have the right to set all the rules about how their work gets used or displayed. In our case, as taggers, these artists have given us their consent, either by permissions or granted when purchased, to create "new art" as it were with their art. As the original artist however they also deserve the respect of having their work properly credited to them. We all show the credits differently but they MUST be there and they MUST be visible. There are a few different ways to show the artists credit when making a tag. Below are a few different examples of what is acceptable (if you have any question about how a copyright should look ask the artist or store that you purchased)

Example 1: ©Artist Name ArtistWebAddy Your License # Your Tagger Mark

Example 2: ©Artist Name Your License #
Artist Web Addy
Your Tagger Mark

Example 3: ©Artist Name or Artwork By or Illustrated By (This is only a case if the artist is FTU)

ALL PTU ARTISTS MUST HAVE THE © SYMBOL IN FRONT OF THEIR NAME) The only exception to this is with Elias Chatzoudis as his specific requirements state that the copyright MUST read as such:

Elias Chatzoudis ©2012 (continue with above examples)

Being copyright compliant is very easy and it's a habit EVERYONE needs to get into, not only to protect yourself against legal action, but to protect the rights of the artists that graciously allow the use of their art for our tags.

We here at Pimpin Pspers are VERY copyright compliant and we expect all of our members to be the same. If you have ANY questions are you aren't sure about something, ask!! There is ALWAYS a member of staff around and we are ALWAYS willing to answer any questions you might have!!

Where is the licence number to be found? Is that one's purchase number when they buy say a Garvey image?
